05 May Furniture scouting in NYC
Quick trip to New York yesterday beating the northeastern heat wave. The day was seventy five and sunny… perfect weather for furniture shopping on the cobblestones streets of TriBeCa and Soho. Amtrak train down the Hudson, Penn Station to the NRQ train downtown. I popped out at Union Square by 9:45, in time to make a few phone calls from the park and soak up the city vibe. I just can’t help but feel so alive when I’m in the city. I met my client, whom I’d never met before, in the lobby of ABC Carpet and Home on 18th and Broadway. I figured it would be a good starting place to gather ideas of what she liked and didn’t like…so many variations and styles all under one roof is great when just getting to know a person and their tastes. We quickly went to the second floor where there is a lovely collection of vintage mid-century pieces. From there, we scooted over to Design Within Reach followed by Dune, down on Wooster street. Room and Board, CB2 and Flair also inspired us.
The end goal: find, scale, purchase and install ALL new furniture and rugs for a ski condo needing an upgrade since its original decoration in the mid nineties.
Stay tuned for the final install…sometime in November. Lots to do between now and then. But..BUT! I am so lucky this is my job…long day and all, but I LOVE my work.
