18 May Just Perfect
Last evening we enjoyed a 4 hour game drive and watched 3 lions stalk a buffalo….we listened to the attack…in the dark. So incredible…the buffalo got away although it was all quite dramatic. Dinner last night was served in the library…candles and lanterns only, it was a bit cold so everyone was provided with a blanket on the back of their chair. I just love those details. The morning arrived quickly and Lily was none too amused with the 5:30 wake up call…the phone is next to her bed. I let her have coffee this morning…lots of sugar and cream…and a dipping biscuit….before our morning drive. We tracked wild dogs (endangered) and found them! So cool!!! The three lioness we saw lying beneath a tree sleeping in the morning sun were the same lions from last night according to Tristen….they were so peaceful and slept without a bother while we snapped our photos. Elephants, hippos, impala abounded on our drive today. Last but not least, we stopped for morning coffee and granola on the front of the rover. We are calling my new hair do “safari hair”…kinda untamed in its natural state. I’m glad to be taking a break from vanity. In the clearing, there we were, recounting our sightings…all the while being warmed by the sun and the adventure warming our souls.
